How a common cold will fix your discipline
I want to teach you how to leverage your cold to your advantage when you’re sick and fix your discipline. I’ll admit I’m not the most disciplined guy ever, but I’ve come a long way over the last couple years. The YouTuber Hamza influenced me to become better, but he’s changed. He’s changed in recent times. I think he doesn’t relate to our kind of struggle anymore. It’s not that he’s better than us or that he is, you know,
More ahead than us, but his struggle is not the same as our struggle anymore. So, I think Hamza does provide good advice, but I think honestly for this kind of topic about discipline, like getting the ball rolling, he doesn’t really struggle with that anymore. and so he’s forgotten what it’s like to be in our shoes. I think that I can offer better advice in this area. So, how can a common cold fix your discipline? I want
To tell you this because for the last couple months now, few months, I’ve been kind of off my game. I made a habit tracker with like all the things that I want to do in a day, you know, uh meditating, journaling, working out, a lot a lot of stuff. I put a lot of stuff there to check off each and every day. And recently, I’ve only ever really been checking off eating the frog. Eating the frog is
Something that I have on my habit tracker, and it’s to symbolize like I did the hardest thing I had did the hardest piece of work like I got it out of the way you know like the thing that I didn’t want to do that day in terms of work I did that that day and that just means like you know if I when I check it off it means that I did my school work you know
So I have been kind of slacking in other areas of my life and just kind of been focusing more on school which I don’t know if that’s a bad thing, but I think that I can do better and I want to tell you how you can do better, too. Not only am I missing out on other air like like working out, right? I’m missing out on that, but I’m also I found myself getting more like stressed out and angry
Now that I’ve not been meditating or gratitude journaling. I’ve I’ve actually like noticed that with my own two eyes that I’m a little bit more stressed out now than I was before and I want to prioritize that now. I used to be meditating like a lot more and I was actually like making progress in like inside, you know, but over the last year I’ve had to focus more on school and have seen meditating not as a
Priority anymore, which is kind of stupid, right? Like prioritizing school over my well-being. That’s pretty stupid logic, don’t you think? So, let’s change that. I want to tell you how. A common cold will fix your discipline. All right, hear me out. When you get sick, you feel more tired, right? Your body aches, everything. You feel more tired, and so you’re kind of more picky with what you do in a day, with what you choose to to
Physically or even mentally do in a day. Okay. Well, if I have to go to work at a job today and I’m sick, I’ll still go to work, but maybe okay, I’ll just relieve myself of the responsibility of of working out today. Like, I’ll take just take that off my mind as as a cuz I’m just not going to do it today. It’s better off if I don’t do it actually. It’s better if I rest. So it it feels good to like put that out
Of your mind. When you get sick, you’re almost forced to prioritize what is actually important to you. I don’t mean to get dramatic, but like this extrapolates to to people who have more like serious illnesses like cancer for example. you see in the movies all the time and you hear of these real life stories of people who find out that they’re sick, like really sick, and then they choose to not waste any more time. They choose to get up and go do
Something amazing. And then that those are the stories that we hear about of of these amazing people who get up and get at it all of a sudden when they find out that news to make an impact in the world and do it quickly because time is like ticking. If you’re a Canadian, you might have heard of this guy named Terry Fox who decided when he found out he had cancer, I mean, he lost his leg to
Cancer. And he decided he would run across Canada on one real leg and one fake leg. And he would run across Canada to raise money for cancer research, cancer awareness. I want to ask you a question now. If you’ve heard of this guy or you just heard me explain the story, so he got cancer and he lost his leg and he decided he wanted to run across Canada. Do you think Okay. H how long do you think it
Took for him to think of the idea and put it into action? Do you think that he thought of the idea and then he was like, “Ah, that’s a great idea. probably I’ll do it like next month or something. Just I need more time. Probably he thought of it and was like, “Okay, let’s go right now. I want to do that right now.” Like probably that right because he’s not going to around and waste time and sit and
Watch TV like h I have so much time. I have so much time. Let me just wait to do it. No, he doesn’t want to wait to do it. He’s going to do it as soon as he thinks of the idea, right? Do you think he thought of the idea and was like, “Yeah, I’ll do it next week. I’ll do it next week.” Like, “No, no, that’s not how the brain works.” He was probably like, “I don’t
Have any time to waste. I’m going to start right now.” Prioritize what is actually important to you. And it isn’t always easy to know what’s a priority until you have some time to think about it. Like no distractions, just think about it. But the more you think about it, the more you squint your eyes in desperation to see, the more obscured your answer becomes. If something is too obscure to see, then try closing your eyes. I know this was a weird video. I I
Hope that you’re getting my message. Be grateful for the time you have when you have a cold because it could actually be one of those blessings in disguise people always talk about. Take some time to consider what things in your life are actually most important to you and consider what things are just dead weight. If meditation actually brings you value, that should be a priority, don’t you think? Now, I’ve been meditating in the morning before I do any work. I make that a
Priority. The first thing I do, wake up and I I get my water and then I meditate and then I gratitude journal and then I’m allowed to do other stuff and then I get straight to the work. I get straight to the work. So, at least I’ve done that beginning part. I can I can give myself 15 minutes in the morning for me, right? And so can you. You can do it. Okay. If I can do it, I’m undisiplined and I can
Do it. If I can do it, you can do it. Okay. What’s really important to you? What should be a priority? H working out. If working out is a priority, then I would say try to do it at the beginning of the day or just try to make the time for it because I know you can. I know that you can. If it’s important to you, then it should be a priority. Today is March 12th, 2025.
10:38 a.m. All right, that’s everything I have for today. I’m going to go do some
