How To Unf*ck Your Life ► Explained With Dark Souls
I used to sit in my room for days at a time and just watch videos and watch the sky turn from day to night. My sleep schedule was messed up, too. So, I’d stay up late watching more videos and the sun would start to rise again and then I would fall asleep just to do the same thing again tomorrow. I was actually caught in a loop and I didn’t know how to get out. I used to watch
Self-improvement videos and I used to think even if I’m not productive today, at least I’m productive watching these videos. But consumption without any action is still just laziness. It’s going to sound weird, but it was only after I played Dark Souls that I was able to get out of this loop. The first time I played Dark Souls, it was Dark Souls 3, and I made it to the first boss of the game, iodex Gun Deere. I actually
Really struggled with him back then. Okay, laugh it up. Yeah, stuck on the first boss. I was really having trouble. So, you can imagine my relief when I finally beat him. It felt like, wow, this game is actually playable. This game is possible for me to beat. I can kill a boss in Dark Souls. I stopped playing the game after that point because it was like, this game is too hard. But then after some time, I came
Back to it because that feeling stuck with me of relief and the feeling of like I can beat a boss in Dark Souls. I kind of want to play that game again. And maybe you can relate to my story of my first time playing, but I feel like it’s this very first win, this evidence of what’s possible by our own hands. It makes you want to come back to the game and do more. It snowballs into this
Feeling of actually saying, “Yeah, I can do it. I want to do more. I want to see what more I can do. I want to beat this hard game.” And for me, this was the first step for how I got out of my loop of just watching videos and sitting in my room all day. You can watch all of the self-improvement videos in the world, but it won’t mean anything if you don’t start trying to take some action.
This may seem obvious to you. Yeah, I know. I should probably go to the gym and get my life together. Thanks, man. Well, first of all, what does get my life together even mean? Second of all, if you were ever at a point like I was where you were really low in your life and felt like your days were just wasting away, I don’t think it’s as easy as just getting up and going to the gym
All of a sudden. For me, it needed to be like Dark Souls. I needed to be shown that first little evidence of I can handle this. I can beat the boss. I can handle good habits. Because all these self-improvement YouTubers will tell you this is how to unfuck your life. Three-step guide for getting your life together. And yeah, those are nice tips, but for someone like me who doesn’t think he can do anything except watch videos, I needed some proof before I
Could even think about going to the gym or doing the big self-improvement habits. For me, it started with the YouTuber Hamza. I remember he said that I should meditate and gratitude journal in a few videos of his. So, that’s where I started. I just started trying to do these things and getting into a rhythm while doing them. Not perfect, but just doing them. I also started to just do push-ups. Not like a whole planned out workout, just trying to do push-ups
Every day. For me, this was my point of beating the first boss in Dark Souls. It showed me that I can do stuff and I can do some good habits even though I felt stuck, even though I felt like I sucked at the game. You could even do something like clean your room or have a shower or just do a task that will not take you long just to get the ball rolling. You know, do your laundry. An object in
Motion stays in motion, but an object at rest stays at rest. The hardest part is going from zero to one. And this really is the most important advice that I could give you. Other guys on YouTube might tell you, “Do this thing, do that thing, do this thing, too.” Yeah. Yeah. But without this foundational understanding of just getting the momentum started, you won’t feel like doing any of that. You don’t want to overwhelm your brain more. You want to
Give it like a jump start so it can lead to more good habits faster and easier. So, here’s what I want you to do because it can actually change your life for the better because it did for me, too. So, I want you to make a habit tracker like this one. Okay? My girlfriend actually made me this one. You can see cuz it’s actually nice. This one back here that I made, it doesn’t look as nice, but she
Made this one for me. You can see that I was not totally consistent with this one. But let me just explain it to you, okay? Cuz the point of this is to be consistent. You want to label it 1 to 14. Okay, down this side 1 to 14. And you want to make the headings be meditate, gratitude, exercise, read, and learn. I have more here because I thought that I could do more, but you want to just start with those headings.
Okay? And then you make one to one to 14. That’s 2 weeks. So you’re going to monitor yourself over the course of two weeks. Okay? Every time that you do a habit, you check it off, right? So, you can see here what I was doing was 700 a.m. wake up time. See some sunlight in the morning, meditate, gratitude, brush teeth in the morning, eat the frog, stretch, read, and then floss at the night time. This is a lot. And I feel like that was
Maybe part of why I was not consistent because it’s too much to do. So just those five that I listed before, you want to put meditate, gratitude, journal, exercise, read, and learn. Every time that you do the bare minimum for one of these tasks, you’re allowed to check it off. Okay? Because for me, for me too, the problem was I felt like when I needed to check off exercise, you know, workout, it felt like that was so like I needed to do an
Entire workout in order to check it off. You know what I mean? Or in order to check off meditate, it needed to be a 10-minute meditation gratitude journal. I needed to do my three points that I always do. Three little jot notes of reasons why I’m grateful. But that’s not how it should be for this for you. It’s not how it should be. The point of having this is to build the habit of consistency and doing it, you know. So,
What I want you to do, make this for yourself. Please do this cuz it’s really like a good tool. make this for yourself with those five that I listed before. Okay? And I want you to just do at least the bare minimum for this. Okay? And I know you’re going to think that’s stupid. You’re going to think like, “If I Okay, so if I just do one push-up, then I can check it off.” Yes, you can.
That’s exactly what I’m saying. If you do one push-up, you’re allowed to check off the box for exercise. That’s stupid. though. What What difference is that going to make? The point is not to be in the gym making a big physique, you know, that’s not the goal of this right now. The goal of this is to unfuck your life. That’s the title of this video, right? You need to get out of this. Maybe you’re like me. Maybe
You were sitting in your room every day just watching videos and you don’t want that anymore. This is how you do that. We’re not building a physique right now. We’re building consistency. We’re building discipline on a small foundational level. Okay? So, what I want you to do, make those five and do them every day. Do them every day. Try your best. And you only have to do the bare minimum. So, what does that mean? Okay. So, let’s go through the
List. Meditate. That means that if you can do one mindful breath, like you can check it off. check off the meditation part. But there is an app that I I’ll link in the description. There’s an app that I’ve been using for like two years now and it’s really good. So I’ll link you that too. So you can follow that or a 3inut meditation you know or one minute meditation just one breath you can check it off. Gratitude
Journaling is when you say I am grateful for X. Write down one sentence. I am grateful for um this water bottle. this water bottle because it it gives me a lot of water that I can drink out of it so I can stay hydrated and it makes me feel good during the day. You know, write something like that down just off the top of your head because if you can be grateful about the smaller things in
Life, automatically that extends to being grateful for the bigger things in life, you know? So that’s why that’s important. We’re just trying to build the habit of consistency here. So, if you can just write down one sentence, one line of why you’re grateful, write it down. Mark it down on on your sheet. The next one was exercise, one push-up, like I said, you can write it down. Okay? Obviously, for these things, if you want to do more, you can, right?
Once you’re on the ground already to do your one push-up, you can be like, “Well, I can do more than that.” Okay? And then you can do like 10 or 20 or whatever you want. But the point is not to do the most because that is going to give you more resistance. You know, you want it to be as as less resistance as possible. So, just focus on doing your one at least. Okay? Don’t lose out on
Your habit tracker because you thought, well, yesterday I did 20, but now, so now I have to be better than 20, so now I feel like not doing it. No, you have to do it. You have to do the habit tracker. more important than how many push-ups you’re doing. Okay, one push-up means you can check it off. Okay, for the next one, which is reading, if you can read a couple sentences of a book that you like, you
Can mark it off. Okay, that’s it for learning. So if you’re in school, that’s easy because you can just learn, do your studying, you know, but if you’re not in school right now, learning means that you should learn something new. For me, I really like the um well, actually, I like Hamza videos. I like Hamza videos. I would suggest going back and maybe watching some of his older ones. uh other like self-improvement YouTubers where they’re like, you know, talking to
You and there’s no like like um it’s not dopamine, you know? It’s not like switching all over the place, showing you visuals. It’s just like talking, you know, kind of like this video. You could watch my videos, you know, just to like learn something, learn more about your feelings and your emotions and why you feel the way you do. You don’t have to watch me. You can watch uh Andrew Huberman, you know, he’s like a scientist guy. He’s really long style
Videos. You can spend 2 minutes, 5 minutes watching a YouTube video about any one of those things. You can watch one of my videos, learn something. Try to learn something. You know, make a plan for what you want to learn and then just you’re allowed to check it off. You know, this is your habit tracker. You’re tracking your habits. You’re not trying to be the most disciplined person ever doing these habits. You’re not trying to build a
Physique. You’re not trying to become the world’s greatest from this. You’re trying to get from zero to one right now. The advice in this video is not for the people who are like already kind of consistent and you know, like like obviously they don’t need it then, right? This video is for the people who really need it, who were like me, who like just are stuck in a loop in their room watching videos. This is for them.
But that doesn’t mean that you can disregard this information if you’re already kind of on a higher level than that. This is still important. This is still a really good tool to have in your life. And don’t lie to yourself, okay? You know who you are if you need this, okay? So, I want you to take some action. I want you to at least make the habit tracker. I want you to at least draw it, okay? So that you can see it
And put it up on your wall. You can see it and then it reminds you that yeah, I should I should just do the bare minimum. I can just do the bare minimum. That’s it. Just as a reminder. I hope if you need it and you’re watching this video that you take this forward in your life because it really is something useful, something great after you’ve kind of mastered those basics. Like let’s say you filled out your two weeks already, keep doing
It. Keep doing the habit tracker because it’s a really good tool to have in this life. But then now you can focus on like other things, you know, more than just the consistency. You can focus on um doing more workouts, you know, like an actual workout or you can focus on doing other tasks, you know, like I did. I have more listed on mine, right? You can add, you know, uh brushing your teeth at the specific time when you want
To wake up, stuff like that, you know. Now you can focus on other things which maybe you didn’t have the prerequisites to focus on before. Now you can start to slowly remove all the dopamine and consumable things in your life. Slowly start to replace those bad habits like junk food or video games or scrolling whatever. Start to replace them with the good habits like the ones on the habit tracker. Start lengthening the times you do the good habits or even add
More good habits like interests of yours to your habit tracker. We want to replace the bad with the good. Now you might be able to actually do dedicated gym workouts and go for longer and actually be like a gym guy. Now you just want to stay doing these good habits. Remember the basics that we just need a little momentum to get started then it becomes easy. Just like Dark Souls, the more disciplined you can be and the more
You replace the bad with the good, your self-image starts to change and you stop seeing yourself as someone who is trying to get away from the bad habits and instead just someone who loves doing the good habits. So yeah, make your habit tracker. Do at least the bare minimum to check off those tasks because right now more important than building a physique, we’re building our consistency. After you do that for 2 weeks, keep doing it, but start
Upgrading even more and replacing bad habits with good habits. I really do hope that this video can help you help the person who needs it because it really helped me when I needed it. If you like Dark Souls and self-improvement, I’ve just started a new community and we talk about more stuff like this. I’ll tell you how to set up your habit tracker, stuff like that. You know, I’ll talk to you personally and help you get started,
Help you get going, get the momentum going. I hope this video helps, guys, and take care. Okay? Don’t you dare go hollow. >>
